Details
In a world that moves quickly and gives us more and more things instantly, The Women Who Made Us Collection is an invitation to slow down, sit awhile, and become part of something real.
The first release begins with Opal Kinnard Easter.
Opal was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom lived to adulthood. Her life was built in the ordinary work that rarely makes its way into history books — raising children, tending a garden, milking cows, picking cotton, cooking, sewing, mending, and making a home from what was available.
She knew tremendous love and unimaginable loss, and much of the love she gave was shown more than spoken — in meals prepared, clothes mended, children cared for, and simply being there, day after day.
Opal: A Mother’s Hands was created so her story could be experienced, not just read.
Inside you’ll find:
- A beginner-friendly 3-yard quilt project
- Pieces of Opal’s family story
- Her family biscuit recipe
- Handmade Homeplace tallow soap
- Thoughtfully chosen sewing details
- A few special touches intentionally left for you to discover
We’ve chosen not to reveal every detail of the box. Part of the experience is opening it slowly, discovering each piece, and letting Opal’s story unfold as you sew.
As you stitch, we hope you’ll find yourself thinking of the women in your own life whose love looked much the same.
This story begins with Opal, but chances are, somewhere along the way, it will remind you of someone you know.
